These are easy to use writing pages and perfect for beginning researchers. Children will choose an animal and have to develop three facts about that animal. It has, it is, and it can. The sentence starters are broad enough to fit many facts, but also gives them a good start of what they should be looking for. This could also be used to make a class book of facts, or to review after these animals have been studied. The possibilities are endless on how you could use this book with your class. There are two different sets. One set includes a clip art image of the animals, while the other set is blank. This allows children to draw their own image or print one off and attach.
This center is great for working on fine motor control. Print and laminate the cards. Children can then use a dry erase marker to trace the dotted lines. There are 15 cards included.
This fun reader is great for winter. Children can practice their reading skills and predictable text is great for beginners. There are 15 animals included in this book. Pick and choose which ones you would like to use and how many you want depending on the skills of your children. The pages are not numbered to make this easier to do
This center is perfect for February and dental health month. Children sort the 28 animal cards into two categories: “arctic animals” or “other animals” Each category has 14 animals. I suggest using a large pocket chart to sort the cards into. There is also a worksheet included for children to cut and sort into the correct category to check for understanding.
This word wall set is great for winter. It has 4 different sets to choose from for your classroom. There is a set with print, a set on lines, a set with lines and arrows and a dotted set for tracing. There are 19 different arctic animals listed with pictures! This is a wonderful addition to any literacy or writing center. Thank you for downloading.
Polar Animals Greater Than, Less Than:
This is a great math center for practicing greater than and less than. There 15 cards that feature greater than and less than using arctic animals clip art and there are also 6 cards showing “equal to” You can use the included arrows and equals signs for use on the cards and attach velcro to them or laminate and use dry erase markers for children to draw on their answers.
Cube measuring is a great way to incorporate nonstandard measuring into the classroom. Children choose a card and place unifix or snap cubes along the line. They count how many cubes there are and record it on the answer sheet. The answer sheet can be used as a worksheet or put in a dry erase sleeve to be reused.
Polar Animal Alphabet Clip Boards:
These were created to use with the alphabet clips that were found in the Target Dollar Spot. However, you can easily make your own clips using clothespins and writing letters on them (either capital or lowercase) These boards help children recognize and learn letters while building up fine motor skills! There are 8 boards total with a polar animal theme. There are four boards with lowercase letters and four boards with capital letters. Depending on the level of your children they can either match capital to capital or lowercase to capital.
This alphabet matching set is the perfect addition to an arctic animal theme. Children will help the bear find the right igloo by matching the capital letter to the lowercase letter. This is great for use with clips, manipulatives or dry erase markers. Each letter is included. There are two sets: one set for capital to lowercase matching or capital to capital matching. This can also be made self correcting by placing a sticker behind the correct answer. *Now includes beginning sounds.*
Polar Animal Fact Sheets:
These fact sheets are great to use for children to gather facts about animals. They are also great for introducing polar animals to the children to give them an idea about each animal. There is a full set in color and another in black and white. Also, you can consider printing multiple per page to make them smaller.
