My students absolutely love using math task cards during our math workshop time. Each rotation last between 15 and 20 minutes. I have created these activities to use during this time. They are also perfect for small groups, independent practice, and scoot. Students usually have mastered the skill or are close to mastery when working on the these activities.
I have included cover sheets with directions for each set of cards, 8 sets of cards, and student recording sheets.
You will find the following activities:
What's the Sum? - matching addition number sentences with their sums
True or False? - identifying if addition number sentences are true or false
More Than or Less Than - comparing numbers using > or < symbols
Tens and Ones - Matching tens and ones blocks with their number card
Three Ways to Write a Number - matching number, word form, and tally cards
Three More Ways to Write a Number - matching number, expanded form, and the tens and ones cards
1 Less, 1 More, 10 Less, and 10 More - writing 1 less, 1 more, 10 less and 10 more for a given number
Missing Number - writing the missing number in a pattern
I suggest printing the student direction pages in color (They do look fine printed in grayscale.), laminating them and attaching each one to the front of a 9x12 envelope. Print the cards in color or in grayscale on color cardstock, laminate, and cut for student use. Place the cards in a Ziploc bag and keep them and the recording sheets inside the 9x12 envelopes.
