This book companion is perfect to accompany any winter or animal unit.
Animal Description Activity Pages (Page 6-10): Use the bubble
maps to describe each animal.
Animal Picture Cards (Page 11-14): Use pictures cards to
retell the story and animal description. You can also use the
cards to target prepositions by placing the animal around the
room and discussing their location (i.e., “The polar bear is
under the table.”)
Comparatives and Superlatives (Page 15-19): Place the
picture cards in order with the appropriate titles and target
and superlatives (i.e., big, bigger, biggest).
Polar Bear Craftivity (Page 20-21): Instructions and polar bear parts included.
Prepositions: Use the preposition cards (page 22-23), sentence strip (page 24-26) and animal picture cards (page 11-14) to target prepositions. Have students place the cards on the strip and read the sentence. Carry-over activity page included (page 27).
What Do You Hear? (Page 28-29): Have students identify the initial sound they hear for each animal. Use clothes pins to identify the sounds.
Do-a-Dot Reinforcement Pages (Page 30-33): Use these pages to help reinforce any target skill. Have students stamp or color the dots as you target their individual goals during the therapy session.
Polar Bear Read-Along: Cut and paste that pictures on the correct page while you read the story or as an opportunity to retell the story.
