Polar molecules have an unequal charge distribution. The only way that can happen is for a molecule to have polar bonds AND an asymmetrical shape. Bond type is determined by electronegativity difference. Charge distribution is a function of shape. This Powerpoint presentation shows students how to approximate the shape of the molecule using Lewis structures and VSEPR. Lewis structures and VSEPR are used to evaluate the charge distribution. This Powerpoint is Honors Level because it is designed for students who have a working knowledge of Lewis structures and VSEPR.
