In this cute polar bear themed Christmas unit you will find some really fun ways to study sight words during the holiday season!
There are 2 sets of Fry’s first 100 sight words. The first set is a scrambled set to use in a center along with the provided one of the provided response sheets. (I have included several so you have choices.) I have also included a list for the children to refer to while unscrambling the words. I have also included a more “abbreviated” set of mixed up words (only including 30 words) to use as a “write the room and unscramble the sight word”. You can also use this set in a sight word Scoot game or in a “Quiz, Quiz Trade” format (directions included).
The second set of Fry’s first 100 sight words in the pack is not scrambled and can be used on a word wall, pocket chart game, flash cards, “write the room” format (student response sheet for this is also included) or in a “Quiz, Quiz. Trade” game/format.
Another activity that is included is a sight word building mat for each of the 100 words in the Fry list. After standard preparation, provide students with magnetic letters/letter tiles and red and green dry erase markers, your students will have a fun center! I have also included a student response sheet for this activity as well so the students can keep track of the mats they have completed. Lastly, I have included a set of “one breath” boxes and spinner so the students can practice these sight words on their own or with a partner. (I have mine “blown up/enlarged” into a poster to use full group!)
