1) Three Snow Bears – Comparison: Reading - Students compare The Three Snow Bears by Jan Brett with the traditional Goldilocks and the Three Bears.
2) Polar Bear Plunge Persuasion: Writing - Students write a letter to a friend persuading him/her to go for or against the Polar Bear Plunge. (Includes a planning page and letter template.)
3) Three Snow Bears – Hyperboles: Word Study - After reading The Three Snow Bears, students complete an activity exploring hyperboles.
4) Three Snow Bears Math: Math - Students solve and write word problems related to the story The Three Snow Bears by Jan Brett.
5) Inuit Mini-Book: Social Studies - Students learn about the Inuit who live in the Arctic as they read this mini-book. (Includes follow-up questions.)
6) The Three Snow Bears - Border Art: Art - Students create illustrations with captions in the style of Jan Brett.
7) Tacky The Penguin - Character Sketch: Reading - After reading Tacky the Penguin, students write a character sketch of Tacky.
8) Tacky The Penguin - Hunters' New Chant: Writing - Students create a new chant for the hunters from Tacky the Penguin.
9) Little Penguin's Tale – Homophones: Word Study - After reading Little Penguin's Tale by Audrey Wood, students write the missing homophones and their meanings.
10) Penguin Measuring: Math - Students measure penguins of various sizes using centimeters and inches.
11) Emperor Daddies Mini-Book: Science - In this minibook, students learn how Emperor Penguin fathers care for eggs. (Includes follow-up questions.)
12) Tacky the Penguin - March Activity: Movement - Students create their own creative march in the style of Tacky the Penguin.
