This lesson/activity has students exploring their political views and will align them with one of the candidates for President.
The activity has four components:
1. Have students use istandwith.com to take the political ideology quiz. At the conclusion of the quiz, the user will be assigned a candidate that best matches their personal views.
2. Students should then identify the political platform for the candidate they were assigned.
3. Students will use the diagram to compare and contrast their candidate to one other candidate by collaborating with a classmate.
4. Students will reflect on their candidate by writing an essay detailed in the prompt.
This activity has gone over extremely well and it has been nice to hear the conversation/debate brought up. It's also neat to see kids broaden their horizons beyond what they hear at home or by the media on the candidates.
This activity fits well in a government/civics class or any class discussing current events or politics.
