Help your students to practice their political cartoon analysis skills. My PCA resources allow students to have short practices to keep their skills sharp. You’ll want them to practice analyzing political cartoons throughout the school year; this Andrew Jackson is a ready-to-go handout to launch a conversation about Jacksonian democracy, checks and balances, or the accretion of executive power. You could even connect this to a conversation about contemporary populism.
You can also access this file digitally, via Google Drive, which will allow you to edit it for your classroom. Aligned standards can be found within the introduction letter within this document. Simply print the handout and share the link with students. It includes an answer key for reference.
