This project serves as a mock debate for students in a Government, Civics, Current Events, Forum, U.S. History, or other similar history courses.
First, students learn about the major political issues (such as abortion, immigration, etc.) and choose which viewpoint they agree with.
Then, students are matched up in a political debate against another student in class who agrees with the other view point.
Directions and guidelines for the debate and debate preparation are provided in the document, along with an OUTLINE for a rubric. I actually let students vote on what's included in the rubric (so they basically create their own), but you can make your own criteria if you like.
Forms for "winner" votes are included along with peer and teacher assessments and a debate schedule.
By purchasing this file, you agree not to make it publicly available (on websites, etc.) or to share with any other teachers. It is intended for classroom use only.
