This presentation was designed for A.P. U.S. Politics and Government, but can be used at any level of civics or government. The linkage institutions are an important of any government curriculum, with political parties leading the way. This presentation covers the purpose and goal of a party, how a party is organized (federally and on the state and local level), what its functions include, and how it can impact an election. There are also slides dedicated to the concept of divided government. I have used this power point in my classes for 8 years, and I feel as though my students always have a good handle on how political parties work.
