In this activity, students holds conversations with 5 other students, where they ask and respond to questions in the imperfect regarding the sports they played as kids, and continue to play now. After the interview session, students create a graph based on the info that they have found with a partner, and summarize the activity with general questions about whether or not their student body would be considered sporty.
This is a comprehensive activity, where students get interactive oral/written practice with the imperfect in multiple forms. In addition, students must navigate between the present and the imperfect in the same activity, which is something that all of our students need.
The math/graphing component of the activity aligns with AP work regarding the synthesis of sources and information, and the global summary requires the students to respond to higher-level questions regarding the information they have found.
I use this activity with the Realidades 3 text book, chapter 1 or 2, but it can be used for Spanish 2-4, whenever you are doing the imperfect.
