Give your students the opportunity to discover relationships between angle measures with this great discovery activity! Instead of lecturing or simply giving students these angle relationships and having them work on basic worksheets to practice, give students the same information in a way that allows them to figure out the relationships for themselves! They are more likely to retain the information after having a visual representation and explanation of the relationships.
Students will discover for themselves the interior angle sum of a triangle, the relationship between a remote exterior angle and the other two angles, the sum of the interior angle measures of an n-sided polygon, the number of diagonals of an n-sided polygon, and the exterior angle measure of a regular polygon.
Additionally, there is a color match activity included for individual student practice--students are given the name of the figure, the interior angle sum, the
measure of one exterior angle, and the measure of one interior angle. Color each polygon a different color. Then, they are asked to the squares that match the polygon and color them the same color as the polygon.
I also included both blank copies of the polygons and the copies that I created that give the students extra help following the written instructions on the assignment. There is an answer key for the discovery activity included as well.
--One worksheet for each student
--One set of polygons for each group
