This poster activity was created as a review of Polynomials and Rational Expressions. The activity served to reinforce the polynomials and rational expression concepts and to create posters that can be displayed in the classroom.
The students randomly select from 24 different concepts dealing with polynomials and rational expressions. The students create a poster showing the concept and using the checklist (rubric) included as a guide.
The poster descriptions are cut apart and placed in a basket for each student to draw from.
The topics included are:
Definition of polynomial
Degree of a polynomial
Standard form of a quadratic expression
Definition of ascending and descending polynomials
Solutions to quadratic functions
Graph of a cubic function
Multiplying binomials using double distribution and the box method
Definition of "rational function"
Dividing an expression by 0.
Restrictions on the domain
Definitions of domain and range
Simplifying rational expressions
Simplifying a fraction
Expanded and factored forms of a quadratic
Factoring out the greatest common factor
Using the distributive property
Definition of factor
Dividing by a fraction
Solving rational equations
