These flashcards were created so that students can learn the definitions of some basic terms concerning polynomials. The students can learn the terms on their own or with a partner. There is no need for the teacher to teach these definitions at the board with the students merely taking notes.
The cards may be printed on copy paper. Each set of cards in a row is a front and back of a flashcard, so the rows may be cut apart, folded in the middle and glued or stapled together. There are other possibilities, such as printing on card stock with a little manipulation.
One way to use the cards is to have students quiz each other for about 10 minutes using the cards, and, afterward the students could be given a quiz or independent work to determine how well they know the definitions.
The cards could also be used as a card sort. Students could work independently, pairs, or groups, and match the terms to the definitions.
The product could be an activity at a math center.
