What is it about polynomials and the rules of exponents that give students such a hard time? This is meant as practice/review for students who have covered the distributive property, adding and subtracting polynomials, combining like terms, and the rules of exponents.
Students will be able to:
• Add polynomials
• Subtract polynomials
• Find the product of a monomial and a polynomial
• Multiply two binomials
• Use the Distributive Property to simplify polynomials
• Use the rules of exponents to simplify polynomials
Included in this product:
Matching Polynomial Activity: have students work out each one of the problems in each fish. There are three pairs of matching answers. Students are to color each matching pair the same color.
Suggested teaching: put students to work together with a partner or groups of 3. They need at least three different colors to share within their group.
Poly-Bingo: give each student one Poly-Bingo Board. They are to fill in their board with the 25 clues in any order they’d like. Then, using the board or any other method, write a problem for them to solve and use M&M’s, skittles, or Bingo chips to cover each square as the problem gets solved. A student can get Bingo diagonally, vertically, or horizontally.
This is designed with Valentine’s Day in mind, but it can really be used during any time of the year.
Hope this helps give your students additional practice in working with polynomials!
