Rules for Trashketball:
Students are divided into teams. A problem is placed on the board, and all teams work to solve the problem on individual white boards (or separate sheets of paper). When time is called, students hold up their answers. If they are correct, then the team gets 1 point and chooses a player to send to the front to shoot a trashketball for an extra 1, 2, or 3 points. I put strips of tape on my floor across from the trashcan. The closest strip is the 1 point line, the next is the 2 points line, and the farthest is the 3 point line. Each player at the front takes a turn shooting a crumpled piece of paper into the trashcan for extra points.
My students LOVE this game...especially the boys. Be careful, though, and watch out for flying trashketballs while they are doing the problems too.
