2 days of notes
day 1 - standard form, classifying polynomials
day 2 - adding/subtracting polyomials
both sets of notes have a warm-up (reviews necessary background knowledge for content of notes); content (with lots of examples); on your own and/or activity.
day 2's activity - i use two small wooden blocks (from a craft store) and write several polynomials on the blocks. Each group of students gets two blocks and one penny to use. They roll the wooden blocks and flip the penny (heads = add; tails = subtract). They record the blocks and add/subtract sign from the penny onto their paper and then add/subtract the polynomials accordingly.
