How this activity works:
This pack is great to teach your little ones syllables in a creative, fun way! Provide students with a syllable mat of your choice.
If using the frog mat you can use black pom-pom’s to represent flies. Have the students place their flies at the starting line (below the number one). Explain to the students you need to help the frog eat some flies, but he can only eat the number of parts they hear in a word.
If using the lily pad mat you can use green pom-pom’s (frogs), or frog counters. Have the students place their frogs at the starting line (below the number one). Explain to the students the frogs need to jump onto the lily pad but, he can only jump to number of parts they hear in a word.
Place syllable cards facedown, the teacher or student pulls a card from the pile, identifies the picture and all students use their syllable mat and flies/frogs to identify how many parts they heard.
