I drew up this contract when I encountered a particular student who was brilliant but just was not behaving or completing his classwork. It is heartbreaking to have a student who has the ability to be an amazing student but who either can't or won't meet the standards that you set before them. Having this outlined contract did help engage both the student and the parents in the process of trying to meet the standards. It also helped when the child still had not met those standards to mediate at a principal, parent and teacher conference. Sometimes we need these contracts to prove that we have documented and tried to work with a student and his or her parents. Add this to your classroom management tools for that hard to reach student. Hopefully you won't need to use it often, but it is here if you need it!
Blessings for your students and your strength. TEACH ON!
