This is a super fun way for your kiddos to practice producing rhyming words. This game can be played individually or in table teams and each way is played slightly different and it includes 42 pictures to produce rhymes for.
Individually- I purchased a popcorn box from the dollar store, but any cup or container will work. Put the pieces of popcorn with rhyming words into your container. Pop some popcorn before playing as well. Sit in a circle with your kiddos and give one of them the container. The first student will pull one piece of popcorn out, name the picture, and name a word that rhymes with his or her picture. Then he or she will pass the container to the next kid and play will continue around the room. If a kiddo pullsl out a piece of popcorn that says “pop” on it, give them a piece of popcorn and then they get another chance to pull out a picture. Play continues around the circle until you decide to stop.
Table Teams– Start at one table, and pass the container around the table while kiddos pull out pictures, name them, and name words that rhyme with them, much like the individual play. When someone pulls out a piece that says, “pop” everyone on their team has to put all of their pieces back into the container. Continue around the room as many times as you like and the team with the most pieces of popcorn in the end wins. Sometimes I give students one piece of popcorn each time they name a rhyming word (optional).
