Why? Why did I create this product? At the beginning of each year, I ask students about books they’ve read the previous year. What kind of books did they like or not like? How many books did they read? And each year, I am amazed at how many children look at me like I have just asked a ridiculous question. Students have no idea about real reading. They look at reading as “answering a comprehension question assignment.” That made me sad, so I vowed to myself and to my students that I would devise a plan that would help students learn about themselves as readers.
