Pop into Prefixes and Suffixes covers common third and fourth grade prefixes and suffixes. It was dual aligned to Common Core State Standards and California Content Standards in preparation for the California STAR CST assessments.
Students are asked to build as many words as they can using popsicles that contain prefixes, suffixes, and root words. The popsicles are color coded: prefixes are purple, suffixes are green, and root words are yellow.
Common Core aligned:
3.RF.3.a- Identify and know the meaning of the most common prefixes and derivational suffixes.
Students are then asked to record a sample of their words and give their new meanings.
Included in the file are:
7 prefixes (un, pre, re, bi, mis, non)
10 suffixes (ed, er, est, ly, y, ful, less, ment, ness, or)
Bulletin Board pieces- a definition for both prefixes and suffixes and smaller sheets defining each prefix and suffix with examples.
See preview for full description.
