Product Description

This is the first lab of the year for my students! It is designed to teach your students basic lab skills without the added danger of chemicals. They learn how to handle and measure chemicals, how to light and adjust a Bunsen burner, how to properly use equipment (including the electronic balance), and how to calculate the accuracy and precision of their data. The best part is that students can EAT the popcorn they make at the end of the lab!*

Lab Procedures, a student lab sheet, and and answer key are all included. Procedures and lab sheet are in WORD format, so they can be edited.

*Supplies needed for this lab (per lab group):

1 small pot (I bought mine on Amazon for about $8 each)

1 metal spoon (I bought mine from the Dollar Tree)

1 spoon rest (I bought mine from the Dollar Tree)

A plastic shoe box to hold the pot, spoon, and rest (referred to as the "food lab kit")

10 kernels of corn

1 small Styrofoam cup

Enough aluminum foil to cover their small pot

1 bottle of cooking spray

Salt for seasoning cooked popcorn

Microwave popcorn (for those students that burned their sample)
