PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Ever just want to have a popcorn party? Here is the perfect game that will go along with that theme. This game addresses 4 different language areas: Synonyms, Antonyms, Categories, and Multiple Meaning words. Directions for the game are as follows:

Print each set of cards. This game includes four different language games, easily identified by the different colored borders (red, black, yellow, blue). The four games target synonyms, antonyms, categories, and multiple meaning words.
Place the full and empty popcorn tub cards in the center of play face up, so that each child can reach them.
Depending on the number of players, select the following cards for the middle:
2 players in your group: 1 full popcorn tub, 1 empty popcorn tub
3 players in your group: 2 full popcorn tubs, 1 empty popcorn tub
4 players in your group: 3 full popcorn tubs, 1 empty popcorn tub
Deal the popcorn and kids eating popcorn cards to all players equally with the card face down in front of each player.
To play, students take turns quickly turning over one card from their deck. If a popcorn is turned up, the student must either name an antonym/synonym, identify items in a category, or name 2-3 meanings for the multiple meaning word.
Other students need to be paying attention (for the kids eating popcorn cards) and trying to check for accuracy. Play should continue quickly from player to player to make sure everyone has an equal chance to see the cards at the same time. It will also encourage the student to make their language skills become more automatic.
Continue flipping cards over until a kid that is eating popcorn is flipped over. When this happens, the students must quickly grab a full popcorn card from the center of the table. The student left with the empty popcorn tub earns a warning.
The first person to get 5 boxes of full popcorn is the winner.
This game works well with different levels of students because ‘winning’ is based on speed in reaching for cards, rather than language skill.
