OPTION A: This activity can be used as an assessment after teaching volume of rectangular and triangular prisms.
OPTION B: This activity can be used with an incentive of popcorn as a prize for answering it correctly.
• The group can share the correct bucket of popcorn.
• The group can share the popcorn bucket they chose (then later share which bucket actually was the most)
• Have a portion of popcorn chosen for your class beforehand
OPTION C: Split students into groups. Have them construct a net which would then be folded into the 3D bucket of popcorn. Then use this worksheet to have students analyze the other buckets.
OPTION D: The teacher will have the four buckets on display. Students will predict which one they think will hold the most popcorn. Have them record the predictions on the board for everyone to see. Students will then do calculations to see which one actually holds the most and then record their answer.
