This is a fun activity for practicing sight words, new and old.
Either write sight words on the popcorn pieces or type your sight words on Avery 5167 labels, print and stick the sight words to the popcorn pieces.
This is how I play the Popcorn Sight Words Game in my classroom:
1.) I have the students sit in a circle at the carpet. Then, I send the popcorn bucket around, each student pulls out a sight word.
2.) Once the bucket gets back to the first student that pulled a word I have them start by saying their word, spelling it, using it in a sentence and telling me what punctuation would follow.
3.) Of course, I do not start the year off that way. I gradually go into all those elements. At first, I may just have them say it and spell it.
4.) If we make it around the circle with no mistakes, I treat the class with microwave popcorn at snack time!
