Sometimes teaching sight words can be a little challenging between informing parents and helping students at various levels. In my class, we called them "popcorn words" because they just pop up in our reading. The students got excited to add a new word to our popcorn tub every day a new word was introduced. This parent letter will inform your parents of the current batch of words and give them some fun ideas to reinforce them at home. It also has an individual chart for each student's progress. Students can fill in their own charts and can help track their progress. Plus, you can even have a fun popcorn party at the end of the year to celebrate all they've learned!
