PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Throughout the Middle Ages popes and kings struggled for power. Will it be knock out? Students decide who wins based on seven rounds of power struggles. Students identify who has more power in each round. This activity is common core because students analyze and interpret quotes from both Pope Gregory IX and King Henry IV. This is a fun critical thinking activity.

This activity also has a reading on the Great Schism and it's impact on the world. Students identify key concepts and support their claims with evidence or examples from the text.

I have also used this activity as a class review. Students go to either the "Popes", or "Kings" side of the room.
