Students can practice using call numbers to locate books in your library. After this activity students will have a better understanding of how your library is set up!
Students will also review how a call number is created and the different kinds of books including biographies, reference, fiction and nonfiction.
Simply create some "popcorn pieces" (crumpled pieces of paper thrown in a fun container) with call numbers of books in your library! (You may want to put biography call numbers on one color of paper, nonfiction on another and so on) Have students pull a piece of popcorn, record the call number on their sheet, locate the book and fill in the rest of the information about the book!
Students love it!
