This interactive SMARTboard lesson can be used as either a mini lesson, small group practice or instruction, partner work, or in an independent center or station. There are a variety of activities in the lesson giving students a chance to determine which digits are in a particular place or what their actual value is in that place. They may be asked to name the number in the tens place or they may be asked what value the 7 might have in the tens place. The last slide is designed to be used over and over by students. They use a smart pen to write a number that a partner gives them; then they write the number that is 10 more than the first number. Erase the marks and do it again. Numbers range from hundreds to ten thousands, but most questions focus on a number in the hundreds or the thousands. Created with Smart Notebook 11. MUST have SMART Notebook software to download and use this lesson.
