This is a zipped file with two secure PDF files for Poppy by Avi, book two of the Poppy Stories. The resource is a low prep novel unit and includes a student PDF with all student activity pages that teachers can print as a novel study packet for reading groups or print individual pages as needed. The second PDF has teacher notes, answer keys, and student samples.
The Poppy story follows a timid deer mouse on a quest for a better life for her family. The novel provides many opportunities to talk about seeking answers, facing challenges, and bullying. It is a great mentor text to use for descriptive writing, figurative language, identifying tone and mood, and recognizing a hero's journey. There are many activities from which to choose depending on the reading level of your students.
