This story by Eve Bunting is one of my favorites. The story of a boy and his father who is helping to build the Golden Gate Bridge. The boy thinks that his father has the most important job on the bridge, and should be getting all of the credit, until there is a major tragedy one day. This story is in the third grade Journeys book, but is also a hard cover book that you can use as a read aloud.
Included in this packet are the following:
*10 comprehension task cards based on the story
*Graphic Organizers on summary, author's purpose, and sequencing, and comparing/contrasting.
*4 interactive notebook pages to deepen student understanding.
There is also an interactive notebook page focusing in on multiple vocabulary words from the story.
This is a great story to use as a read aloud for your students, or if you're using a reading series in your school with this story included, this is just a great way to have your students work on some supplemental resources.
Thanks for looking!
