In this resource, students will observe competitive exclusion principle by virtually culturing P. aurelia and P. caudatum in separate pure samples as well as in a mixed sample. Students will also be required to analyze concepts based on competition as well as label and identify carrying capacity, exponential growth, transitional phase, and death phase.

This document builds on the free resource based on the McGraw Hill adobe flash program that is no longer available. The interactive/animation directs you to a series of slide shows. Concepts laid out in the interactive is supported through a spreadsheet that automatically graphs three separate samples and then requiring students to answer questions based on the graphs created from the data collected in the interactive.

This resource includes a Word document with answer key as well as an Excel spreadsheet or it may easily be copied to Google drive through the link provided in the Word document.
