I believe students learn best when they are engaged and having fun. This activity can be a fun ways to have students study the Populist movement. The Populist movement can be a dry and boring subject; farmer's, gold vs. silver backed money and debates over government regulation and increased democratic representation can leave students feeling bored. The Wizard of Oz can liven up a normally boring topic. Students creating these allegories need to understand relationships between the people and events from the Populists movement.
Students will explore
The populist movement.
The relationship between the important people, ideas and events of the Populists Movement
