In this fun, interactive, and communicative project, students write a scaffolded descriptive paragraph about themselves. After writing the paragraph, students exchange papers and draw each other based on the description they receive, reinforcing comprehension and communication. Rubric included.
When doing this project, I recommend having students choose "code names" to use so that they do not know the person whose portrait they are drawing. This typically takes my students two days- one day for writing and the other day for exchanging papers and drawing.
