Included is a ready-to-use rubric to assess student position papers. The rubric assesses areas such as: (i) the introduction to the issue, (ii) the position and evidence related to the issue, (iii) the closing recommendation, and (iv) conventions. The weights of these categories can be adjusted to reflect classroom-specific learning goals. Best for instructors that are comfortable in using weighted averages.
This rubric was originally used by me to assess position papers for Model UN conferences. I have generalized the rubric so that it may apply for any type of position paper.
