In this activity students will identify chalk outline bodies of elements by counting the number of protons.
The way I used this in my classroom: Instead of jumping straight into the acitivty I built it up. I talked about making positive ids in crime investigations. Then how we need to use our POSITIVE PROTONS to IDENTIFY the element's body.
The second part of the activity is having students now identify actual atoms. My students used models I made but anything will work.
Then they had to answer an Essential Question.
