This EDITABLE data log is a great way to track and monitor how frequently you give positive recognition to your students. This is especially useful if you are implementing PBIS at your school-but even if you are not a PBIS school, giving students positive recognition is still important!
Students should receive five positive recognition for every one negative. This is a great way to ensure that ALL of your students are receiving a variety of positive recognition. Even the students who test your patience, toe the line, or are the most behaviorally challenging, NEED to receive positive recognition. Actually, those students *especially* need it because so often they're just looking for attention and, in my experience, respond to the positive.
PBIS states "acknowledge the behavior you want to see", so as you are recognizing your students', name the specific reason WHY you're doing so. "Thank you Janet for explaining your answer in a complete sentence and justifying it with a 'because"!"
