When facing a problem or challenging situation, students need to know that they have control over their thoughts and mindset about the situation. In these lessons that incorporate CBT strategies, students will identify the difference between negative and positive thoughts and the feelings associated with each kind of thought. They will also learn about and practice replacing negative thoughts with positive thoughts. When students look for the good in situations and continue to practice a positive mindset, they are more likely to find the positives in each situation, which is a huge factor in coping and building resilience.
These scripted lessons and activities can be used in the small group setting, classroom guidance lessons, and individual counseling sessions. Printer-friendly student pages and handouts are included as well. These pages use less ink.
