Product Description
Identifying author's perspective... with pets! I found that my students struggle to discuss how author's could have different perspectives or points of view, so I created these paragraphs to show how two author's could have very different opinions about certain animals as pets. This helped us to address RL.6 in our class as well as build towards our own opinion writing with W.1- these paragraphs were later used as examples of opinion writing that showed a clear opinion.

I have also included a "clue words list" that helped my emerging-level EL/ESL students participate successfully in this activity. Though the perspectives in the passages are fairly obvious to native speakers, for my newcomer English learners, the clue words were the best way for them to access this idea.
