Differentiating between contractions and possessives can be difficult, especially for ELLs, and definitely when the contraction is “ ‘s ” for is or has. This is a fun center activity that allows students to sort words into their correct categories: possessive or contraction. To use this Google Slide digital sort first delete the last slide (answer key) and then make a copy for each student. They will need to keep the slides in edit mode. Students then drag the shirts into the correct washing machine to sort the countable from the uncountable nouns. Be sure to give students instructions on how you want them to return the activity. A paper version, as well as a paper + digital bundle, is also available.
