These activities designed by Heather Bates, SLP were created as a way to teach and reinforce possessive nouns and pronouns. They are perfect activities for independent centers within your classroom or to do with the whole class. These grammatical forms should be taught as part of the Common Core Curriculum in 1st and 2nd grades. Slides 2-6 are the Scavenger Hunt. To get this activity ready you must copy, cut, and laminate each picture card. In addition, you must make copies of the worksheets to be completed during the activity. To complete the activity tape the picture cards to the various objects in your room that are on the card. Then have your students walk around the room until they find a picture card. They may then take the picture card back to their seat to write in the correct possessive noun along with the possessive pronoun that matches the given noun. They return the picture to the object it was found on and continue until their worksheet is completed. Slides 7-15 consist of practice writing possessive nouns and pronouns depending on the time of year you are targeting them. There are general, winter, and spring themed activities. With these slides copy and laminate the picture cards and have your students fill in the missing possessive noun and pronouns to complete the corresponding worksheet. My possessive pronoun poster is also include to display in your room as a visual to support this activity. Students will love the adorable graphics by www.mycutegraphics.com.
