This activity is three-fold. It requires students to read their independent reading story and to concentrate on two different grammar strategies. They find examples of sentences that contain possessive nouns in their books and record them as they are reading. Then, they must determine what possessive rule applies to their word and the type of sentence the example is (i.e. declarative, imperative, interrogative, or exclamatory). This sheet includes an example of how to complete the activity for students to follow.
