This is a reading assessment that teaches students to look for and note (with post-it's) important information from the novel they are reading. The focus is mainly on characterization, motivation, conflict, vocabulary, and moving parts of the book. As kids read, they note relevant passages which they will then write about later. This lesson includes the handout of directions, as well as the rubric for evaluation. My students enjoy this; the responses for each post-it are short, so they feel quite comfortable when they realize they are 'analyzing' what they have read.
