I created this product to go along with any kind of postcard exchange/collection you have for the classroom. I collected postcards driving across the country, but there are many other ways to get postcards for your classroom - you can even print them off!
This product includes the following activities:
Postcard Groups – Pass out postcards from different locations and then have students get into groups with others that have different locations/states.
KWL – Use this chart as a “warm-up” for learning about different states. You can do this whole group or have students complete the KWL and then get with a small group to share and see if others can add information.
State Brochure – Students can research about their state independently or in partners. Printing tip: Double-sided; Flip pages on short edge
Postcard Math – Students will research different mathematical aspects about their state. Extend this activity with the group math work page.
Postcard Math Group Work – After students research individually, they will come together to compare the mathematical aspects of their states!
Create your own postcard – Create a postcard for your state and write to a class or friend in a different state. Printing tip: Print on white cardstock; Double-sided; Flip pages on long edge
