This 17 page PDF is to complement the Halloween story, The Perfect Pumpkin Pie, by Denys Cazet.
This product includes:
-Pages 1-11 are over the vocabulary words in the story and include the definition, a picture and the quote from the book that uses the word.
-Page 12 explains what a simile is and uses an example from the book. It leaves space for you to come up with an alternate ending to a simile made in the story. This page is great for guided practice.
-Page 13 is the actual assignment for students to do independently. It involves students creating their own similes using the words listed on the page.
-Page 14 has a picture of an open coffin and is used for the class to brainstorm overused adjectives such as 'good', 'bad', etc. that should be buried and locked up forever!
-Page 15 includes a table that students fill out with adjectives that describe the 5 senses. This can be used in guided practice or printed out for independent or group work.
-Page 16 is a section of dialogue from the story that is retyped in a script format so students can practice how to adjust their expression to fit a character. This can be done as a whole group, small groups or in a center. Great for students who need to work on improving their expression!
