These are guided line by line visual directions of science images (atoms, cells, plants, animals, processes such as photosynthesis and diagrams such as the HR Diagram) for students to draw from scratch and then label in their science journals.
I make them using the line drawing and animation features on Microsoft PowerPoint software. On a blank piece of paper, students reproduce line by line a science image as it progresses from beginning to end through a projector onto a screen. I use a PPT wireless presenter/laser pointer to advance the animations as I walk around the classroom advising and encouraging my students.
Each illustration takes between 20 to 30 minutes (coloring optional). The lesson includes the guided PPT, optional templates of the first line or shape for tracing and a printable quiz of the image unlabeled.
