Newly UPDATED with 5 FREE EXTRAS! This Hands-On, Self-Directed, Action LAB--allows students to explore the relationship between Potential and Kinetic Energy using a folded origami FROG!
This is one of my students' favorite labs, and helps them to understand how Potential Energy changes into Kinetic Energy. Students make their own Origami FROG out of an index card (plans and video link included) and then CHALLENGE their Teammates for distance!
LAB has students analyze the FROG's jump step by step for Maximum P.E. and K.E., Minimum P.E. and K.E. and Equal P.E. and K.E. using an already drawn diagram. Students graph their Results - with help to identify their Independent and Dependent Variables, and DRY MIX to graph them. Drawing Conclusions uses High-Order-Thinking Skills to analyze the Potential and Kinetic Energy, and lead them through Energy Transformations present in their FROG's jump- using their own made-up names for the possible types of Energy. I hope your kids love this LAB as much as mine always do!
