This lab experiment is directly aligned with NGSS Next Generation Science Standards MS-PS3-2 (or 07-PS3-2 if you're in Kentucky).
Students will have a blast using magnets (any with north and south poles will do) to explore and experience how distance affects the amount of potential magnetic energy, and is complete with higher-order analysis questions.
• Create a hypothesis based off of an observation and question
• Perform an experiment by following procedures
• Record data
• Answer analysis questions based on Bloom's Taxonomy
I also have a potential gravitational energy experiment for this same standard. It is available here: Find that experiment here
