Students learn to determine the opposite of a number, and they evaluate absolute value expressions. The notion of absolute value has a geometric implication, being the distance from zero on the number line, and provides background to students for use in their future studies with Real Numbers. Additionally, the "counter-example" is explained, and students apply a counter-example to given statements when the statement is false. Also included in this lesson is an explanation that defines the difference between Velocity and Speed, linking the mathematics of this presentation to science. Many examples are presented for clarification, and answers are provided so your students may compare their answer with the actual answer (hoping both are the same)!
Joy to you and your kids, and thank you so much! :)
